Kendrapara, Aug 19: A disease-free seven-year-old girl child had to experience the worst nightmare after of her life after being wrongly diagnosed of HIV/AIDS virus carrier.
Incidentally the victim girl from Chakkibanka village of Bandhapada gram panchayat under Rajnagar tehsil had lost his father to the killer disease while her HIV-infected mother is leading the life of ignominy.
According to sources, the teenage girl had been tested HIV positive during diagnostic test at the Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre in the premier S.C.B. Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack .
Later the diagnostics reports from the premier health institute of the state proved to be wrong much to the relief of the ill-fated family.
The diagnostic slip-up came to light recently when the child was subjected to repeat check up at the ICTC in the Kendrapara district headquarters hospital.
The recheck was necessitated as the suspected HIV carrier was handpicked for Anti retroviral Therapy(ART) treatment at the MKCG Medical College & Hospital at Berhampur.
As luck would have it, the girl got a new lease of life after it was found out that she did not contract the deadly virus.
